Creating your first game
Pick the course and tee, the date, a format and the money, then invite your group. Works in the app and on the website.
Start a game on the Play tab in the app (Create Game), or at bigshowgolf.com under My games → New game. The steps are the same in both.
The steps
- Course: search by course or club name and pick it. Your recent courses show first. Then choose the tee; its yardage, rating and slope are used for handicaps. Players can each play a different tee: their yards, par and the holes where they get strokes follow their own tee. Women's tees that share a men's tee name show as, for example, Red (W).
- When: the date and tee time, 9 or 18 holes, and a name. A name is suggested, like "Saturday at Bentwinds".
- Format: how the game is won. See Choosing a format. Then choose Gross or Net scoring (net takes handicap strokes off).
- Money: turn on Playing for money to set a buy-in, skins and close-ups. See Money settings. Leave it off for bragging rights only.
- Tee times (optional): set how many tee times, minutes apart and players each. Turn on open sign-ups to let people claim spots themselves, with a waitlist when it's full. You can also do this later on the tee sheet.
- Invite (optional): pick one of your groups to invite everyone at once, or share the link after creating. See Inviting players.
- Summary: check it over and tap Create.
After you create it
- Everyone you invited gets an invitation. Share the invite link or the 6-character code with anyone else.
- You can change the settings, add players and fix scores any time from the game.
- Add a co-manager to share the work of running it.
- Next week, open the finished game and tap Run It Back to make the same game again and invite the same group.
Changing a game after it's set up
On the website, open the game and click Edit game: the same form as New game, filled in. Change the name, date and time, who can join, the format and scoring, handicaps, blinds and the money (buy-in, skins, close-ups and their holes). Tee times and players are on the Tee sheet. In the app, use the game's settings.
The course and the number of holes stay as set up. Once a round has been played, only its name can change, so results stay the same.
