Inviting players
Send the invite link, share the game code, invite a whole group, or add people from your contacts.
Pick whatever's easiest for your group. You can mix them.
Share the invite link
From the game, tap Invite and send the link by text, email or any app. Tapping it opens the game in Big Show Golf, or the game's page on the website if they don't have the app yet, where Get the app brings them back to your game after installing.
Share the game code
Every game has a 6-character code. Players type it under Enter Join Code on the Play tab. Handy for reading out loud on the first tee.
Invite a group
Build a group of your regulars once (Profile → My Groups, or Groups on the website). Then pick the group when you create a game to invite everyone in one go. Next week, Run It Back invites the same group again.
Big list? On the website, open the group and choose Add people → Upload a file. Save your spreadsheet as CSV with a Name column and a Phone or Email column. A Handicap column is optional; it shows on the group's list for reference.
Add from contacts
When adding players or building a group, choose people from your phone's contacts. People who already have Big Show Golf get an invitation in the app; people who don't are saved in the group by name and phone or email, and become full members when they sign up.
How each person is invited
Big Show Golf picks the simplest way to reach each person:
- In the app for anyone who has Big Show Golf: an invitation and a notification.
- A text from your phone for anyone with a mobile number. Messages opens with the invite and the numbers filled in; you just tap send.
- An email only for people with no mobile number. Big Show Golf sends it with the link to join. Anyone can turn off invite emails from the link in the email.
On the website, "Open in Messages" works on a Mac or iPhone. On a computer that can't send texts, you can email the people who have an address instead.
People without the app
Send a browser score link so they can enter scores from their phone's browser, no app or account needed.
Guests without an iPhone
Someone in your group doesn't have an iPhone or an account? Add them as a guest: on the website's Tee sheet use Add a guest, or in the app open Manage Tee Times and tap Add a Guest. Enter their name and, for net games, their handicap index.
Guests can also add themselves: anyone who opens the invite link without the app can tap Join on the web (you can turn this off for a game on the website's tee sheet). They show on the tee sheet with a Web tag.
Guests play like everyone else: the leaderboard, teams, A/B/C/D draws, skins, close-ups and payouts. Whoever keeps score for their tee time enters the guest's scores, in the app or with the tee time's browser score link. Guests who join on the web can also keep score for their own tee time and turn on game alerts from their game page. A guest you added by name who then joins on the web with the same name takes that spot, so nobody shows up twice. Guests don't earn league points.
